My Process
There is so much more to a designer than being able to utilize software and pick pretty fonts. Below I have shared my process for the City of Round Rock website project.
UX Design, Round 2 - Figma
The review brought us back to square one with navigation concepts and responsive mode issues with the first design. A great lesson learned with Elementor Page Builder and all of it’s amazing widgets, is that just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. After another go at the UX, I presented Round 2 to Directors and project leaders and got the sign-off to proceed.
Design, Version 2 - WordPress
The presentation of design version 2 provided me with positive feedback on the design, but we still had some work to do for responsive mode design. From here I did several tests of functionality on the Search widget, Icons and Event and News posts. All of this had to be reworked, which at first was hard to understand, but then ended up with the best possible solution for launch.
Final Design and Development
With one final presentation to the City Manager and department directors, the final build out the web site set to launch July 2021.
- Provided UX mobile design
- Tested best practices for web editors
- Created a Learning Management System website for editors
- Created website training videos and learning documents for the LMS, utilizing Office 365, SharePoint and Stream apps
